1860's long-awaited return is here!

A game tracing the development of railways on the Isle of Wight, 1860 is part of the 18xx series of economic railway games, based on Francis Tresham's original concepts.

The game is notable for the small size of the board compared to many 18xx games, and its innovative game end: The climax of play sees the beginnings of railway nationalization in the United Kingdom, with the weakest companies being eliminated from private operation earlier than those which are the healthiest.

Part of the 18XX Game Series.

Note: This is the Kickstarter Edition which includes the expansion 1860: Locomotives on the Isle of Wight as stretch goal.

The game was initially produced in a small print run of c.100 copies. JKLM and Z-Man games released a larger, but still limited, 2nd edition (with an alternate map) in 2010.

After years being out of print, All-Aboard Games is proud to bring back the clever and intricate 1860 in collaboration with original designer, Mike Hutton. This reprint combines the best of both worlds, the designer's original art and vision with AAG's best-in class production and quality!

1860 works wonderfully with 2-players which makes it easy to get a game going

1860 is a league of its own in the world of 18xx - it will bend your brain and force you to think outside of your tried-and-true strategies, all in a relatively short gameplay time of 3-4 hours.

1860's rules are a lot different than most 18xx games. And those differences make it the ideal 18xx game for two players. Of course it works with up to four players, but 1860 is in the sweet spot for 18xx with two players.

This Kickstarter item includes the bonus expansion, 1860: Locomotives on the Isle of Wight. Mike Hutton has been fulfilling  orders for this expansion himself, so not many copies have made it out into the world. All-Aboard Games is proud to offer the first large-scale printing of the expansion. And with each Kickstarter copy, the expansion will be included already.

  • Double-sided board including both the first edition, and the second edition (with three extra playable hexes, two on the left and one on the bottom-left). The first edition is recommended for 2-3 players and the second edition is recommended for 3-4 players.
  • Linen finish board and cards, ivorycore quality
  • Paper money bank and company credits
  • Red squirrel priority deal marker (red squirrels are a beloved animal on the Isle of Wight!)

2nd edition side of the board (this one has the three extra hexes), recommended for 3-4 players

1st edition side of the board (without the extra hexes), tighter board recommended for 2-3 players
